Growing up with a great respect and love for nature, Mac always knew he wanted to work in environmental conservation. When it came time to choose a career path, forestry was a natural fit—allowing him to protect and manage natural spaces while helping landowners make informed decisions about their forests.

Mac’s background includes working with the National Wildlife Refuge System, private science centers, and research groups. These experiences reinforced his belief that forestry, when done correctly, benefits both people and the environment. Through his work, Mac has also developed a personal goal of living a sustainable lifestyle with minimal environmental impact. Outside of work, Mac enjoys staying connected to nature through activities like bird watching, hiking, canoeing, and even polar plunging. He also has a passion for restoring old tools and appliances, reading books, and working on homesteading projects.

"One of my favorite parts about being an FFCP forester is witnessing landowners' properties in person, reviewing them, and providing guidance on how they can potentially be improved through management," Mac shares. He finds it incredibly rewarding to help landowners take proactive steps toward sustainable forestry practices.

Through his work with FFCP, Mac combines his passion for conservation with hands-on efforts that make a tangible difference. He is inspired by the landowners he works with, who share his dedication to preserving forests for future generations.
